Edit Glasgow's historic library
GLASGOW'S first public lending library opened above the public baths in Main Street in the Gorbals in November 1901.
It proved so popular that, by 1933, a new library, above, was opened in Norfolk Street.
Generations of readers improved their minds and fed their imaginations with books borrowed from Norfolk Street. Today, Gorbals residents have a state-of-the-art library and resource centre in Crown Street.
